National University to host Eco Fair 2009

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – National University and the Center for Cultural and Ethnic Studies will sponsor Eco Fair 2009 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 at National’s Spectrum Business Park Academic Center, 9388 Lightwave Avenue, San Diego, CA 92123. The event will coincide with Earth Day, which is on April 22.
The theme of Eco Fair 2009 will be “What can I do in my own backyard?” Robert Kard, Air Pollution Control Officer for the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District, will address fair goers at 11 a.m. and then facilitate a brief question-and-answer period.
Eco Fair 2009 also includes a job fair focused around green industry and environmental employment opportunities, which will be coordinated through the National University Career Center. Along with a series of environmental exhibits and demonstrations, there will be a children’s area at the Eco Fair 2009, offering environmental media and activities. Additionally, Eco Fair 2009 will host a component for K-12 teachers, focusing on “eco-literacy” and environmental science education in public schools.
Two films will be screened at Eco Fair 2009, including the 1973 science fiction classic “Soylent Green” about an environmentally ravaged future and the environmental documentary “Everything’s Cool.” National University faculty will facilitate group discussions and commentary following the screenings.
