Course Description

A presentation of advanced Spanish conversation, reading and writing in a cultural studies context. Gives students information about Spanish-speaking cultures in the Americas, particularly the United States. Topics may include history of local communities, labor and educational issues and issues of identity.

This course is designed to give insight into the Spanish-speaking world through a study of the language and through cultural interaction.  Vocabulary, grammar, and cultural information will be developed using the Direct Method (exclusive use of the target language) as much as possible and will involve a variety of activities, including storytelling, skits, and simulated real-world experiences.
