- In 2021, NU launched a grant-funded virtual reality pilot in San Diego County, to train aspiring
nurses in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. - In 2022, NU received a $4 million grant from Health Resources and Services Administration
(HRSA) to support the The Dr. Gloria J. McNeal Nurse Managed Clinic. - In 2023, with the success of the virtual reality pilot, NU partnered with experience developer
Axon Park to build a virtual campus, increasing experience and engagement for online learners. - In 2023, NU’s grant with HRSA and partnership with Jewish Family Service of San Diego
funded efforts to expand mobile healthcare and clinic services in the community.
