La Jolla, Calif. – National University has acquired WestMed College as the newest affiliate of the National University System, Dr. Jerry C. Lee, Chancellor of the National University System and President of National University, announced today.
Based in San Jose, California, WestMed provides career training for licensed vocational nurses, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, nursing assistants, and early childhood educators.
“National University and the affiliates of the National University System share a common mission with WestMed College; offering a diverse student population access to quality programs designed to help them reach their educational and career goals,” said Dr. Lee. “The addition of WestMed College as the newest affiliate of the System will serve to diversify the academic programs and broaden the student population of the National University System.”
As a result of the acquisition, Mr. Troy Roland has been named President of WestMed College. Previously, Mr. Roland served as President of the California Medical Institute (CMI), an affiliate of the National University System. CMI will now be dissolved and its programs will be absorbed by WestMed.
WestMed is an independent institution of higher education approved by the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).
Additionally, WestMed’s paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). WestMed’s two campuses are in northern California, including one in San Jose and another in Atwater, Merced County. Rittenhouse Capital Partners LLC was advisor to the seller.
